Fans of silent movies are invited to see Seven Chances featuring Buster Keaton, Saturday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in the Garden Spot Village chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland.
Wayne Zimmerman, renowned theater organist, will provide musical accompaniment for the 1925 movie on the Rodgers church organ at Garden Spot Village.
The West Chester musician, well-known for accompanying silent movies in the mid-Atlantic area, earned his reputation playing pipe organ in Philadelphia theatres and the Wanamaker pipe organ.
In Seven Chances Keaton stars as Jimmy Shannon, a financier who learns that he will inherit $7 million if he marries by 7 p.m. on his 27th birthday which happens to be that day.
Keaton also directed the film that stars Snitz Edwards as Caleb Pettibone, the lawyer who sets out to help Shannon find a bride; T. Roy Barnes as Billy Meekin, Shannon's partner in the brokerage firm on the brink of financial ruin; and Ruth Dwyer as Mary Jones.
The screenplay was based on a 1916 play written by Roi Cooper Megrue and produced by David Belasco. It was reworked several times, including The Bachelor (1999) that starred Chris O'Donnell and Renée Zellweger.
