Fire damaged a Lancaster city business Thursday afternoon.
City Tech, located at 146 E. King St. at the new East King Street parking garage, sustained $25,000 in damages, Lancaster fire bureau Capt. Jeffrey Oatman said.
"There was considerable damage to the office area," Oatman said.
Damages included $10,000 to the building and $15,000 to contents.
An automatic fire alarm sounded at 1 p.m., Oatman said. No one was in the office at the time, and the door was locked.
"We had to break our way in to get to it," Oatman said.
The Pennsylvania state police fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate.
"We don't know the cause yet," Oatman said.
Oatman confirmed that video footage from Lancaster Community Safety Coalition cameras located in the area was being reviewed.
"We do that when we have a working fire and there are coalition cameras nearby," Oatman said. "We're going to run a tape because the office was locked, and we want to make sure nobody was in or out of there within the half-hour of when this started."
The business is owned by Larry Fry, but neither Fry nor an employee were at the store when the fire began, according to the fire department.
The second block of East King Street was closed as firefighters doused the blaze.
