Term 'sport'
is defined

TO THE EDITORS:

I often feel the urge to reply to letters I read here. Now's the time.

When reading Prof. Monica Cable's derision (Feb. 16 '"Sport' absent from predator hunt by father, son") of a father and son bonding through the sport of hunting, I was struck by her lack of understanding of the term itself.

Sport is simply defined as "distraction," -- no balls, no referees or boundaries.

Even so, I have often pondered this fact: Where does one seek traction in a culture dominated by distraction? A university? Please!

Yes, this could go on, but I think I've made my point.
