The Donegal Fish and Conservation Association, in cooperation with the Donegal Experiential Education Program, will be holding its 46th annual Spring Outdoor Show and BBQ Saturday, March 10, from 4 to 8:30 p.m. in the Donegal High School gymnasium.

The show will feature exhibits from area sporting goods stores, fly tiers, rod and tackle makers, shooting enthusiasts, kayakers, bow fisherman, bowyers, conservation groups, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Cortland Line professionals, who will be giving fly casting demonstrations.

As usual, there will be numerous games, raffles and a silent auction.

Also on hand again this year will be a reptile display provided by Triple J Reptile and Rescue, the Lancaster Fencibles and award-winning fly tiers Jim Baumbach and Dean Myers. New vendors include the Lancaster Chapter of the Sierra Club, Pennsylvania's first female fishing guide Jaime Devito of Breakline Charters, fly tier Ken Ocorn and Ted Moore of Ted Moore hand-crafted knives.

This year, the featured speaker will be Tom Brtalik, a licensed, full-time professional fly-fishing guide and instructor with more than 30 years of experience. Brtalik has spent thousands of hours on the water and has taught hundreds of students of all all ages and skill levels the basics and finer points of fly fishing.

Brtalik's presentation will be on fly casting, and he will demonstrate in the gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. He will also be available for instruction and teaching throughout the duration of the show.

Club member Harvey Schademan will again be cooking up the pork barbecue. Advance tickets are being sold for the barbecue because a limited supply of meals and individual sandwiches will be available at the show.

All proceeds from the show will benefit restoration work on the Donegal Creek, supporting the club's cooperative nursery and the annual kid's fishing derby held later in the spring.

For more information about the show or setting up a display, call Kurt Enck at 475-7834, send an email to fishmagic2@gmail.com or visit www.donegalfish.com.
