Romeo, Romeo. Wherefore art thou Romeo?

'Tis the season of love, after all.

Valentine's Day is fast approaching and -- if you're like most Romeos -- you've probably not a clue what to do about it.

Well, Cupid's here to help.

Lucky for you, the area is filled with romantic possibilities this week and next. Whether your Valentine likes music, theater, the outdoors or just a good meal, there is something going on to fit the bill.

• Since we're speaking so glibly of Romeo, maybe we should start with the real deal.

Arguably the world's most well-known and tragic love story, "Romeo and Juliet" comes to the Hershey Area Playhouse, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey, beginning Thursday and continuing through Feb. 26.

The feuding Montagues and Capulets do all they can to keep the young lovers apart. But if they can't be together in life, then perhaps in death...

C'mon. She watched the Super Bowl with you. It's only fair.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $17 for kids 12 and under. Call 533-8525 or visit www.hersheyareaplayhouse.com.

• How about immersing yourself in the romance of the Renaissance?

OK, we'll throw in a full-course meal, too.

The Veritas Academy is hosting its fifth annual Valentine Madrigal Feast at the Barn at Overlook, 605 Granite Run Drive, Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m.

It's a pretty impressive venture, with students, teachers and parents all taking on the roles of 16th-century royalty, musicians, dancers, jugglers and even beggars.

But since it is so spectacular, it most often sells out. Better call 556-0690 to check. Visit www.veritasacademy.com for more information.

• If you and your love are passionate about food, then maybe Meghan Young has something of interest.

Young is the chef and owner of Character's Pub, 38 N. Christian St.

With business partner and general manager Jose Fuentes, she'll be teaching a "Food for Lovers" cooking class Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $50 and space is limited.

For details, visit www.characterspub.com or call 735-7788.

But suffice it to say that Chef Young will be featuring several aphrodisiacs in the dishes she prepares.

Oooh la la...

• Music lovers have quite a few romantic options ahead.

• You and your love can swoon to the special Valentine concert by Dr. William Wright, Sunday at 3 p.m. at Highland Presbyterian Church, 1801 Oregon Pike.

Wright, best known as the Lancaster Symphony chorusmaster, is an accomplished pianist as well. It a concert titled "Romantic Rhapsodies," he'll offer up Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" as well as works by Chopin, Julius Chaloff and Henry Cowell.

The performance is free, but donations benefit Tabor Community Services.

Call 358-9383 or go to www.tabornet.org for more information.

• If symphonic music sets your heart a-flutter, head to Chocolatetown for the Hershey Symphony's performance of "Love is in the Air" at 8 p.m. Friday at the Hershey Theatre, 15 E. Caracas Ave.

Nothing sets the mood quite like the sweeping of strings and the wave of a baton.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students. Kids under 12 are free. Call 534-3405 or visit www.hersheysymphony.org.

• On Sunday, the Hershey Theatre will trade the stage show for the big screen with the 1959 film "Pillow Talk" starring Rock Hudson, Doris Day and Tony Randall.

The Oscar-winning comedy has the classic split screen scenes of Day and Hudson on the telephone -- they share a party line. (Explain that to your grandkids ...)

Valentines get off cheap with this date, at a mere 7 bucks a head. And that includes a concert on the theatre's historic four-manual Aeolian-Skinner organ preceding the film at 1:30 p.m. The film itself begins at 2 p.m.

Call 534-3405 or visit www.hersheytheatre.com for details.

• Nothing says love like a cabaret, don't you think? Beautiful music in an intimate atmosphere just sets the mood for romance.

Local veteran singer Michele Hendricks Weiss will lend her velvety voice to some jazzy love songs on Valentine's evening, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ware Center's Grand Salon, 42 N. Prince St., overlooking the Lancaster skyline.

Sponsored by the Lancaster/Hempfield Rotary, the performance also features pianist John Brubaker. Tickets are $25 and include light fare and drinks.

Call 290-6079 or 327-8300 for ticket availability.

• Rob Brock, at the Hole in the Wall Puppet Theater, 126 N. Water St., has been offering grown-up cabarets for a while now.

This weekend and next on Friday and Saturday nights, he'll host a Valentine Party at the Over 21 Club Cabaret.

His celebration of love includes the classic music of Cole Porter, Dorothy Parker's poetry, a little tango and performances by some special marionettes.

Tickets, if available, are $15, and include a beverage. For reservations, call 394-8398. Visit www.holeinthewallpuppets.com for more information.

• A full dinner accompanies Gretna Theatre's "Love 'Round the Piano" cabaret happening Saturday and Sunday at the Lantern Lodge, 411 N. College St., Myerstown.

The cabaret benefits Gretna Theatre and features Broadway performers Kathryn Kendall and Scott Wakefield, both Gretna veterans, singing songs of the heart.

Performances are at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. All-inclusive tickets are $48. For details, call 964-3322 or 964-3627 or visit www.gretnatheatre.com.

• Just because it's February, doesn't mean every Valentine-worthy event has to take place inside.

Besides, when it's cold outside, it's a great excuse to snuggle!

With that in mind, you may want to take your Valentine to the moonlight hike being held Saturday at 7 p.m. at Governor Dick Park in Mount Gretna.

After walking the trails in the darkness, the group will head inside the environmental center for cookies and hot chocolate by a cozy fire.

To register and for details, call 964-3808 or visit www.parkatgovernordick.org.

Cupid's quiver is now empty. Happy Valentine's Day!
