Welsh Mountain Health Center, 584 Springville Road, New Holland, will hold Sealant Saturday on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Free dental sealants and oral health education will be provided to those in need by members of the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists' Association at Welsh Mountain and other locations across Pennsylvania through a statewide community outreach program.   

Preventive sealants will be placed on children's back teeth to prevent cavities. Children ages six to 14 are welcome to attend with a parent or legal guardian. Instruction on how to care for teeth and gums, as well as information about access to oral health care will be available.

Sealant Saturday is conducted to recognize February as National Children's Dental Health Month. Last year, Sealant Saturday served 581 underserved and uninsured children throughout the state.

Sealants are a good investment for a child's oral health and will help prevent tooth decay during cavity-prone years. Applying sealants is a simple, painless procedure that is very inexpensive compared to the conventional methods of drilling & filling a cavity.

Welsh Mountain Health Centers is a Federally Qualified Health Center incorporated in 1973 to "provide quality, family-centered health services to all members of the community, especially those who encounter barriers to care."  In FY2011, Welsh Mountain provided $4,721,116 in medical and dental services to over 8,000 patients. Of that, $2,210,374 was in uncompensated care.
