Nine L-L League lacrosse players inked Division I scholarship offers Wednesday. Seven girls — the most ever in the league — and two boys will continue their academic and athletic careers at the top level in collegiate sports. All lacrosse scholarships are partial.
Manheim Township topped the list with four girls and one boy.
Devon Schneider, a midfielder, highlights the list of Blue Streaks as she will head to the University of Florida, which closed last season with a No. 4 national ranking.
Schneider is a three-time all-league selection, two-time L-L Player of the Year and a reigning U.S. Lacrosse First-Team All-American.
Township goalie Shannon Nee and midfielders Megan Pinkerton and Carolyn Westphal also signed Division I offers.
Nee, who will play at the University of Connecticut, is a three-time all-league selection, was named the league's MVP goalie twice and was a U.S. Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-America selection last season. ESPNHS named her the No. 3 senior goalie in the country.
Pinkerton, who is bound for Temple, will be a four-year starter for the Streaks. She was named to the all-league team last season and garnered U.S. Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-America honors.
Westphal will play at Brown next season. She was named all-league and a U.S. Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-America last spring.
Other girls moving to the Division II and Division III levels are: Manheim Township's Hali Albert (Millersville), Erin Ketchum (Indiana, Pa.) and Brooke Stoltzfus (Lock Haven) and Penn Manor's Emily Eddowes (Rollins) and Courtney Fatta (Thiel).
Cocalico twin sisters Avery and Kari Longstaff will join Pinkerton at Temple next season.
Both Kari and Avery were all-league first-team selections last year. Avery was a first-team selection at midfield in 2010 while Kari earned a first team spot on defense in 2009.
Lampeter-Strasburg's Bridget Hufnagel is also headed to Philadelphia where she will join the Longstaffs and Pinkerton at Temple. Hufnagel was a all-league first team selection last season.
Manheim Township's Chase Miller will join his brother, Quint, at Jacksonville University. Miller is a three-year starter was an honorable mention all-league selection at midfielder and face-off in 2010.
Hempfield's C.J. Bosch will play at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Bosch was named to the all-league first team last season.
Other boys headed for the Division II and Division III levels are: Warwick's Jake Watson (Florida Tech), Penn Manor's Alex Cummins (Florida Tech), Ephrata's Alex Pstrak (Messiah), Brian Neff (Ursinus), Joey Sellers (Elizabethtown), Josh Frey (Bridgewater), Mason Quickel (Misericordia) and Tucker Keefer (Elizabethtown), Lampeter-Strasburg's Chris Ruger (Messiah), Nick Pray (Bridgewater) and AJ Chivington (Messiah and Conestoga Valley's Zach Shelly (Bridgewater).
