Coaches Clinic

Lancaster General Health Orthopedic Center will host a free coaches clinic from 7 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 3, at Lancaster General Hospital, 555 N. Duke St. The clinic is for athletic trainers and coaches on all levels. Sessions, conducted by experts in their field, will cover topics appropriate for youth, high school and college coaches, including Barefoot…and Running More Naturally; Cardiac Red Flags — When to be Concerned; Team Support for the Athlete with Learning Disabilities; Concussion Management; and Getting the Most out of Your (Female) Athlete. Sixth annual York College Sport Management Student Association Golf Tournament will be held April 28 at Honey Run Golf Course in York. Running

Inaugural Hershey 10K will be held Sunday, April 15, on course through Hersheypark and the surrounding area. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Pennsylvania and other local charities. Registration, at $35, is open on active.com and is limited to 2,500 participants.

Discounted preregistration is still available for the fourth annual Garden Spot Village Marathon to be held Saturday, March 31, at Garden Spot Village in New Holland. Shuffleboard

Senior Shuffleboard Tournament will be held Friday, Feb. 3, at Overlook Activities Center to benefit the Lancaster Senior Games. Teams of two are encourage to register and will play others in their own age groups. Times are 9 a.m. for ages 70-79; 11:30 a.m. for ages 80 and up; and 1:30 p.m. for ages 55-69. Soccer

Hempfield Soccer Club will have spring 2012 recreational soccer registration open until Feb. 15 for recreational league players ages U10-U19. Softball

Ephrata Recreation Center is taking registrations for its 2012 girls' fast-pitch softball teams. Girls ages 7-18 are eligible (age as of Jan. 1, 2012). Teams play in the Lanco Fast Pitch Softball League. Teams will be entered in the 8-under, 10-under, 12-under and 14-under divisions. Registration fee is $49. Deadline to register is Feb. 15. Manheim slow-pitch league is accepting two more teams for each of its divisions. The recreational division will use single-wall bats. The upper division will use the 1.2 bats. Cost is estimated at approximately $1,100, depending on the number of games. The next meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6. Ephrata Church Softball League is looking to expand and start an over-40 men's age group. Games would be played Tuesday and Thursday nights from May-August at fields in the Ephrata and Denver area, with one or two games per week without doubleheaders. Volleyball

Millersville women's volleyball team, led by head coach Brian Smith, will host five camps for girls this summer. The All Skills Camp, for ages 11-17, will be held June 29-July 2. There will be camps for each individual position, for players in grades 8-12, throughout July, with the Setter and Middle Hitter Camps, from July 16-19, and the Libero and Outside Hitter Camps from July 23-29. Cost for resident campers is $360 and the cost for campers that choose to commute is $285. A $75 non-refundable deposit is due upon registration. The 19th annual Ephrata Invitational "Indoor War" Wiffle Ball Tournament, hosted by the Ephrata Baseball Association, will be held Feb. 24-25 at Ephrata Middle School. Garden Spot Mat Club invites all Spartan alumni wrestlers to celebrate 50 years of Garden Spot wrestling Thursday, Jan. 26, during the Spartans' home match versus Manheim Central. All alumni will be admitted free and recognized mat side at approximately 6:30 p.m., right before the defending Section Two-champion Spartans take the mat against the Barons. Afterward, snacks and refreshments will be served for all alumni in the cafeteria.
