Police allege an Elizabethtown man downloaded onto his home computer pornographic images of children.
Matthew Robert Glattacker, 31, of 3 Foxfield Lane, was charged with 50 counts of sexual abuse of children after images and movie files were recovered from his computer, according to state police.
He also was charged with one count of sexual abuse of children for dissemination of child pornography.
State police said they discovered the material on Glattacker's computer in April while conducting an online investigation searching for people distributing child pornography.
Through a court order served on the Internet provider, investigators were able to identify the subscriber by matching the IP address associated with the files, according to a criminal complaint.
Using a search warrant executed in May at the Foxfield Lane home, police confiscated two computers, CDs, DVDs and other digital media-storage devices.
While being interviewed by state police May 23, Glattacker admitted to downloading the illegal material using a file-sharing program, the complaint states.
A subsequent forensics examination of the computers and media-storage devices taken from Glattacker's home revealed dozens of images and movie files depicting children under the age of 18 engaged in various sexual acts, state police said.
As a result of the investigation, state police Trooper Philip Strosser filed the charges Tuesday.
Glattacker was arraigned by District Judge Jayne Duncan and released on $25,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is pending.
