Bowling created a moment in time that Beth Moyer will never forget.

It was the 2010 District Three championships at ABC North Lanes in Harrisburg.

Moyer, then an Elizabethtown High School junior, found herself in third place after the preliminary round, but had to face the 2009 district champ in the quarterfinals.

"I found that pretty intimidating, but was able to win the match and move on to the semifinals, in which I had to bowl against my friend, Aerika High," Moyer said.

After defeating High, she vied for the title.

"By the championship match, I was nervous, as all get out," Moyer said.

By the 10th frame of the final game, she put herself in a position to win and "almost broke into tears" with happiness after capturing the title.

Background:
Beth, 19, is the daughter of Cindy and Darrell Moyer. She graduated from E-town High in 2011 and is employed by Green Tree Farms.

Leagues (averages):
Thursday Night Ladies Classic (176).

High scores:
Single, 288; series, 706.

My greatest moment in the sport:
Was being the district champion in 2010.

Achievements:
First-place city/county juniors awards (for singles, doubles and team event); fourth place at districts (2009, high school); first place at districts (2010, high school); placed in the top 12 at regionals (2011 high school) and 13th at states (2011 high school).

Favorite bowling center:
Clearview Lanes.

Type of bowling ball:
Brunswick Revolver.

The person who taught me the most is:
Mr. (Frank) Telenko (my high school bowling coach) definitely helped me the most during my four years of high school bowling.

Great bowling teams:
Have a good team dynamic to bowl well together. If everyone isn't on the same page that you are on and striving for the same goal, it doesn't matter how good of a bowler you are. If you all don't want it as bad as the other, you'll never get very far.

Bowling has helped me:
Learn to keep my cool. Just because one thing goes wrong doesn't mean you're ruined forever. All you can do is take one thing at a time.

My interest in the sport began:
When I was 5 years old when I started bowling, and it has taken off since then.

My high school bowling experience was:
Amazing. All four years the guys and girls that I bowled with were wonderful. We weren't even a team, we were more like a family. At matches and tournaments you could always tell us apart from the other teams because it wasn't just everyone on the varsity (team) cheering us on, it was the whole team of 25 members.

My secret to success:
Stay positive. If you get yourself down and dwell on one bad shot or one bad game, that's how you'll bowl all night long.

Suggestions for others:
Never beat yourself up over one bad game. Things can only get better.

My long-term bowling goal is to:
Hopefully bowl for a college team, as long as I keep my goal to go to college.

The funniest thing that happened in bowling was:
When our high school team went to regionals last year. Before the actual tournament, we put all of our bowling balls in a tub of hot water to soak them and clean them. It was incredibly hilarious and also extremely gross.

This brings me good luck in the sport:
All of our pep talks before a match used to bring me good luck when I was bowling in high school.

People would be most surprised to learn that I:
Really miss practically living at the bowling alley from late October until early April.

Alley notes:
A perfect game was rolled by Dave Kready at Clearview.

High series (men, 800; women, 700) were rolled by Dave Gerhart (801) at Leisure and Ellen Merklinger (742) at Dutch.
