Upper Leacock volunteers a treat

TO THE EDITORS:

I would like to give a shout out to station 3-11, Upper Leacock Township Fire Company. They drove two fire trucks around on trick-or-treat night and handed out candy to everyone in the neighborhoods of Leola.

One truck had an inflatable Great Pumpkin, the other a very tall inflatable cat, sitting on Mayfield Drive for 20 minutes for all the kids to get candy and pictures with the fire trucks and fire personnel.

Last year, our neighbors' son was sick and could not go trick-or-treating. The firemen went to their house and visited him, dumping a bucket of candy on his lap. They made his night. This year, personnel from both engines came up and asked about the boy who was sick last year.

These are generous, wonderful volunteers in our community. Many thanks to these heroes.
