Comcast subscribers will soon have to shell out a little more money for their television cable service.
Across-the-board rates for cable service will increase 3.3 percent effective Aug. 1.
"We've worked hard to hold down price adjustments, even given the impact of higher programming costs," said Robert Grove, Comcast's director of Public Relations and Community Affairs for the Keystone Region.
The rate increase will not immediately affect all customers, Grove said.
"These adjustments will not impact a majority of our customers because they currently receive services as part of a promotional offer," Grove said. "During the length of that promotion, your rate doesn't change. About half of our customers are in some kind of deal like that."
Grove said he could not break down in dollars and cents what the rate hike will mean for individual customers.
"It's impossible to go into that; everybody has different packages," he said.
He said Comcast wants to give customers the best service possible by continuing to make "investments in next-generation technology."
"Recently, we added more than 50 HD, SD and 3D channels, increased Internet speeds and introduced new interactive applications and content that customers want and value — like Xfinity TV with over 150,000 online choices," he said.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, Comcast serves about 24 million TV customers, over 17 million Internet customers and more than 8 million telephone customers in 39 states.
