Plans for a proposed disc golf course in the community park along Pequea Creek in Strasburg Township have moved forward, and a preliminary clearing of the area has begun.
The 18-hole course will be one feature of a community park that is being designed by the engineering firm LandStudies. Proposed by local students Kyle Meck, Josh Jantzi and Travis Dombach, the course will be open to the public once completed and may eventually be used for local tournaments.
Meck, Jantzi and Dombach have begun clearing the fairways and tees for a number of holes along the western side of Route 222 and recently purchased tee pads. They have also received a donation of temporary baskets from Donnie Brooks that can be used until permanent ones can be purchased.
The students are in the process of obtaining donations to purchase materials for the course and hope to have it completed by next spring.
