Police have charged a Reinholds man with shooting at a group of people Friday night in Ephrata.
Michael Vincent Roberts, 24, was in his vehicle when he got into a verbal argument with four people standing on the sidewalk in front of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at 135 S. State St., according to Ephrata police.
As Roberts drove away shortly after 11 p.m., he fired a shot at the group. No one was hit, but the bullet struck a home, police said.
Officers stopped Roberts' vehicle shortly after the incident and recovered a handgun, according to Lt. Thomas Shumaker.
Because police didn't immediately know a home was hit — a felony offense — Roberts was subsequently released with misdemeanor charges, Shumaker said.
Roberts was detained by police Sunday after investigators learned the bullet struck a house, Shumaker said.
He was charged Monday with discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
Roberts was arraigned Monday by District Judge Jene Wilwerth and released on $75,000 bail, according to court documents.
