Owners of Tanglewood Manor Golf Club in East Drumore Township got their wish last week to change the location of a solar project.
At a hearing June 9, East Drumore Township supervisors agreed to reopen testimony and evidence in the conditional-use process and ultimately approved the change, with conditions.
Now, instead of the previous plan to install the solar panels at the edge of the driving range in the 800 block of Scotland Road, the panels will be placed at the southwest corner of the property, closer to the driving range.
The supervisors first granted Tanglewood Manor a conditional-use permit to build the solar panels at a hearing May 3.
Tanglewood owner Dwight Wagner said the new location will make the project more efficient, provide better access to the facility and not use agricultural land.
The supervisors also liked the new location.
"I think it's a much better use of ground," supervisor Scott Kreider said. "It's a good move."
The new location will have a stone access drive and won't occupy more than an acre of land.
The electricity generated by the solar facility will be used to offset the costs of operating the golf course and driving range, with any surplus sold for profit.
In granting the permit, the supervisors imposed several conditions, one of which includes providing a buffer of trees between the solar panels and an adjacent church.
