The first thing to catch the eye in Custom Home Group's Tanglewood Manor entry in the Parade of Homes is the fiber-cement siding.

Coastal Blue siding, to be exact.

"It resembles a shore house," said Ken Uhrich, an estimator with Custom Home Group, Quarryville.

The 5,013-square-foot residence, constructed on a 20-acre, partially wooded lot, occupies one of the final home sites in East Drumore Township's Tanglewood Manor.

This year's Parade features 41 single-family homes and townhouses in Lancaster and Lebanon counties, totaling more than $12 million in new construction.

The showcase, which began Saturday, continues through Sunday, June 19. Hours are noon-6 p.m. weekends and 5-8 p.m. weekdays.

Custom Home Group is one of eight builders with more than one entry. Its second Parade house sits on a nine-acre lot at 7 Fox Ridge in Martic Township. Priced at $649,900, that 3,550-square-foot residence has five bedrooms, five baths and a three-car garage. Among its amenities are a first-floor master suite and in-law quarters with private entrance.

The builder's East Drumore Township house, at 2 Fair Winds Drive, is country Victorian "with shingle-style influences," Uhrich said. Custom-built for its buyer, the house does not have a listed price.

An octagonal turret, highlighted by windows on several sides, features a library on the first floor and a studio upstairs.

The house boasts a wraparound front porch with a standing-seam copper roof; an 8-foot, solid-wood front door; a premium trim package outside; an unfinished basement; and a three-car garage with a guest suite above, including bedroom, full bath and sitting room.

The garage also has a two-part epoxy floor coating, Uhrich said.

In addition, there's a screened porch with two dog doors and a dog run; a rear pea-gravel patio; a cobblestone-paver side patio; and a cobblestone-paver front walkway.

Less than a mile from Tanglewood Manor Golf Course, the home is serviced by well water and a septic tank. Its energy efficiency is enhanced by a geothermal heating and cooling system, Uhrich said.

Buck Home, Quarryville, provided the furniture and interior design, window treatments and accessories for the Parade house.

It has four bedrooms (a fifth bedroom is set up as the studio) and 3 1/2 baths.

Situated on the first floor, the master bedroom features a custom tray ceiling with curved corners, wallpaper and rope lighting. The master bath includes a walk-in tile shower and separate commode. There's also a large walk-in closet.

The kitchen has an island with marble counters; veined-soapstone counters elsewhere; painted cabinets; a pantry with wood shelving; stainless-steel appliances; and a window seat.

There's a window seat as well in the balcony overlooking the two-story great room, which features a wall of windows and a coffered ceiling with accent paint colors, Uhrich said.

The rest of the first floor has 10-foot ceilings.

Random-width hickory floors finished on site cover most of the main level, including the foyer, which is highlighted by a custom inlay, he said. To the right of the foyer is a music/sitting room.

The first-floor laundry/mud room is equipped with a hidden laundry chute and a dog-washing area.

Another custom highlight is the angled staircase with hickory treads, large box-newel posts and distinctive balusters and railing.

Upstairs, the studio adjoins an office, and two of the bedrooms are accented by strips of paint.

Uhrich said the owners, who are nearing retirement age, also chose to make preparations for eventually installing an elevator.
