Carla is a gentle and demure little lady. This 1-year-old sweetie is a feminine beauty who is litter-box trained and spayed.
Found as a stray, Carla needs a patient and doting owner to help her build confidence and slowly introduce her to new people, animals and situations.
Until she becomes more comfortable, Carla will flit to a secluded site where she can quietly observe her new surroundings. While you might not see a lot of sweet little Carla in the beginning of your relationship, the moments you do have will undoubtedly be precious.
Carla is a very content kitty. You will be delighted to listen to her purr endlessly. She is daydreaming of a calm and quiet household where she can learn that she deserves all the best things in life.
Carla is available for adoption at the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East. Many of our available animals can also be viewed online at humaneleague.com. Regular shelter hours are 3-8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and noon-5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The shelter is closed Wednesday. Call the league at 393-6551.
From May 10-16, the league received 40 dogs and 116 cats. Twenty-nine dogs and 23 cats were adopted; seven stray dogs were reclaimed by their owners. Six dogs and five cats were transferred to other rescue organizations. Previously featured dog Lily has been adopted.
While Capt. Jack Sparrow is on a quest to find the fountain of youth in the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, our very own "Cats of the Caribbean" are on a quest to find their forever homes.
We've got ambitious goals this summer: adopt out 750 cats into new homes between May 20 and Aug. 31, a 14 percent increase over the number of cats adopted during the same time frame last year. Please visit the summer adoption page at humaneleague.com.
