A new Giant To Go opens 8 a.m. Thursday at 2339 Oregon Pike in the Shoppes at Landis Valley, the shopping center at Oregon Pike and Landis Valley Road.
The 4,000-square-foot store owned by Giant Food Stores expands the typical convenience store by offering more grocery items as well as a salad bar, rotisserie chicken and a toppings bar for subs.
The middle of the store features the salad bar, with three short aisles of groceries on one side and snacks and drinks on the other.
The store also has a coffee station and features sushi, breakfast sandwiches, frozen foods and a small dairy case.
Outside, it has four tables and 12 gas pumps. It has about 20 employees.
This is the second Giant To Go location in Lancaster. The first opened in April 2009 in Richmond Square, at Fruitville Pike and Petersburg Road.

Pet supply retailer
PETCO will open its first local store this summer at Mill Creek Square on Lincoln Highway East.
The 14,000-square-foot location will employ 20 to 25 people, said developer High Real Estate Group.
PETCO will join Staples in anchoring Mill Creek's second phase. Staples also is due to open this summer.
Now with nearly 1,100 stores nationwide, PETCO opened its first store in 1976 in La Mesa, Calif.
Burger restaurant
Jake's Wayback Burgers will open in July at 2481 Lincoln Highway East, across from Rockvale Outlets just west of Route 896.
The restaurant will serve never-frozen burgers, milkshakes and ice cream. It will also has grilled chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers and turkey burgers.
It will be roughly 1,600 square feet and have 25 to 30 employees.
The space, which formerly housed a carpet store, is now being completely renovated, a spokeswoman said.
Once completed, it will have a red interior with white and stainless steel accents meant to evoke early roadside restaurants.
Jake's Wayback Burgers opened its first restaurant in 1991 in Newark, Del. It now has 27 restaurants in the mid-Atlantic with nine more opening by July, including the one here.
Store moving
Puddle Duck Creek Tack & Apparel will open Memorial Day weekend at 33C Friendly Drive in the Musser's Market shopping center at Routes 272 and 372.
At roughly 2,500 square feet, the new store at the Buck will be about three times the size of the existing store at 215 E. State St., Quarryville.
Puddle Duck Creek Tack & Apparel carries horse equipment, tack and riding apparel, offering new and used items and also takes things on consignment.
The new store will allow a larger inventory of supplies, said owner Karen Kennedy.
