Karen Sattler is co-editor of "The Green Pages, a Guide to Sustainable Business in Lancaster and York Counties." This free publication is published twice a year and can be found around the community and online at www.fandm.edu/greenpages.xml.

Sattler makes an environmentally friendly New Year's resolution every year.

One year, she started a group. to study permaculture, a complex philosophy that weaves together the needs of plants, animals, climates and humans into productive communities. Another year, she co-founded the Green Pages.

She studied communications in college, then got a certificate in decorative arts along with her master's degree in education from University of California at Santa Barbara. To this day, she said, she enjoys the restful switch between editing and painting.
