First-year students at Millersville University continue to deal with the inconveniences of construction on campus.
Contractors working on the Visual and Performing Arts Center on campus hit a water main Thursday around 11 a.m., according to Janet Kacskos, director of communications for the college.
The break affected water service at Gaige Hall, at Prince Street and Cottage Avenue.
The residence hall houses 252 first-year students.
Water was turned off in the residence hall for at least two hours while repairs were being completed.
The university is supplying Gaige Hall residents with bottled water for drinking, cooking and brushing teeth.
The water was tested Thursday afternoon. Results are expected to be available Friday morning.
Also, a gas leak Wednesday afternoon forced the evacuation of five buildings on the Millersville campus.
Construction crews working on the expansion of Lyte Auditorium struck an underground gas line about 1:30 p.m.
Gas to all university buildings was shut off, and students were evacuated from Stayer, Lyle, Gilbert, Gaige and Bard halls.
Environmental checks were conducted before the buildings were re-opened.
