CHRISTMAS SHOW: Kids and youth ages 7 to 17 who want to break into "showbiz" can have their chance.

The American Music Theatre, 2425 Lincoln Highway East, will hold auditions for the 2010 Christmas Show on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 27 and 28, from 5 to 9 p.m.

But you have to make an appointment! Call the AMT box office at 397-7700 to sign up for an audition time.

WILLY WONKA: The Ephrata Performing Arts Center will hold auditions for "Willy Wonka: The Musical," on Sunday. All auditioners should arrive at noon at the Ephrata Performing Arts Center.

Applicants will be reading portions of the script which will be provided and singing selections from the show. A working knowledge of the play and the characters and music is recommended. The CD is available for research. Auditioners will also be dancing and moving.

Performance dates for "Willy Wonka: The Musical" will be Dec. 9 through Dec. 30.

Rehearsal start date will be sometime in early October but a definite date has yet to be determined.

All roles in the production are open. EPAC will audition actors from of 13 and up. The production will be directed by Ed Fernandez.

NUTCRACKER: Laurel Dance Company is seeking dancers for its annual performance of "The Nutcracker," as well as for its performing arts ensemble.

The company will hold auditions Sunday, Sept. 19 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Laurel Dance and Performing Arts Center, 4166 Division Highway, Blue Ball.

Performers of all ages and training levels are welcome to audition -- from children to senior adults.

Male parts include Herr Drosselmeyer, Herr Stahlbaum, Grandfather Stahlbaum, and the Butler, as well as dancers in several other scenes. Boys are needed for the parts of Fritz, Russian Dancers and Waltz partners. Female dancers on pointe are needed throughout "Nutcracker" and should bring their pointe shoes to the audition.

The audition will include a ballet warm-up, technique demonstrations, and short choreography/direction-following exercises.

The audition will run from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for children to age 10, and from 4:30 to 6 p.m. for performers over age 10. A $5 fee will be charged. Financial hardship considerations brought to the Laurel Dance Company Board of Directors will be confidentially considered.
