The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory over St. Mary's College of Maryland in the Elmer Lord Classic at Salisbury University Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Jays (1-0) came away with the win on goals by Javeim Blanchette in the first half and an own goal midway through the second half.
• Eric Elicker gave Franklin & Marshall an early 1-0 lead, but Hobart scored six straight goals to escape Lancaster with a 6-1 win.
Women's soccer: Elizabethtown opened its schedule with a 2-0 victory over the University of La Verne in the Blue Jay Classic at Ira R. Herr Field.
Kate Roderick (Manheim Township) finished with a goal and an assist, and Jess Manchak (Lampeter-Strasburg) kept a clean sheet in goal to lead the Blue Jays .
• The Bill Esterly era of women's soccer at Franklin & Marshall got under way with a 2-1 win at Widener. The Diplomats (1-0) received goals from Stephanie Bartner and Selena Boro.
Men's cross-country: Ryan Bell and Angelo Arce (McCaskey) finished in the top 20 to pace Franklin & Marshall at the 45th Annual Little Three meet. Bell was 14th in 16:29 on the 5k course, and Arce was 20th in 16:49.
Dickinson defeated F&M and Gettysburg in head-to-head scoring to capture the meet for the 14th consecutive year.
• John Wallace, Matt Nesmith and Brad Sweigart finished in a row in the top 35 to help Lancaster Bible College to an eighth-place finish at the Delaware Valley Cross Country Invitational Saturday.
Elizabethtown College finished in ninth place, led by Chris Farmer's 37th-place showing.
• Penn State's Vince McNally (Conestoga Valley) won the Dolan Duals, which pitted the Nittany Lions against Lock Haven. McNally finished the 6k course in 18:09.53. Lock Haven's Tim Getz (Lampeter-Strasburg) finished 10th in 18:34.
Women's cross-country: Taryn Shank, Traci Tempone and Eileen Cody finished second, third and fourth, respectively, at the Delaware Valley College Cross Country Invitational Saturday to lead Elizabethtown to the team title, outdistancing Messiah 48-69.
• Sheena Crawley finished seventh in 20:19 to lead Franklin & Marshall at the 45th Annual Little Three meet. Dickinson defeated both F&M and Gettysburg.
Field hockey: Caroline Carlin scored twice as Sewanee University defeated Elizabethtown College 3-2 in the Black Eyed Susan tournament at Stevenson University. Liz DeMatteis scored both E-town goals.
• Shippensburg freshman Lauren Taylor (Garden Spot) scored a goal in the Raiders' 7-1 victory over Southern Connecticut State.
• Katie Mersky (Lancaster Country Day School) scored Dickinson's only goal in the Red Devils' 3-1 loss in their season opener at Eastern Mennonite. Lauren Kelly (Warwick) assisted Mersky's goal.
