A city man was sentenced Friday for assaulting and threatening his girlfriend.
James D. Davis, 34, of Judie Lane, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to time served (two months) to 23 months in prison for charges of simple assault and terroristic threats.
Assistant District Attorney Susan Ellison told Lancaster County Court Judge Louis J. Farina that, in May, Davis became involved in a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend.
When the woman asked him to leave, Ellison said, Davis wrapped a shirt around her neck and pushed her into the wall, knocking a hole in the drywall.
Neighbors apparently heard the commotion and called police, the prosecutor said.
As police were leading Davis away, Ellison said, he reportedly told the woman that when he got out of jail, he'd kill her.
In addition to the prison term, Davis was given a year of consecutive probation, fined $100, ordered to pay $250 restitution and given a long list of conditions of his release, including having no contact with the woman.
