About 100 firefighters from 15 companies battled a two-alarm blaze that destroyed an Eden Township dairy barn Sunday, fire officials said.
Two stone walls were all that remained of the two-story stone and wood structure at 1225 May Post Office Road, Quarryville Assistant Fire Chief Mike Ross said.
Ross said the barn is owned by Leslie and Carol Landis.

He said the Landises were home when the fire broke out just before 2:30 p.m. but didn't know the barn was ablaze until a passer-by alerted them to it.
Ross said hay inside the barn was "burning pretty good" when the first units arrived. He credited firefighters for preventing the blaze from spreading to a milk house and a shed which are adjacent to the barn.
"We were fortunate to get a good water flow right away, and we just hit the right spots," Ross said.
Still, he said, it took firefighters two and a half hours to bring the blaze under control.
He said the Landises were able to save all of their milking equipment from the barn.
"In fact, they're hoping to be able to start milking later this evening," Ross said Sunday night. "They have some technicians out here now, and if all goes well, they'll be at it shortly."
He said the lower floor of the barn housed livestock, but he said no animals were in the structure when the blaze began.
Ross said the fire didn't appear to be suspicious, but the blaze remained under investigation Sunday night.
A damage estimate was not available.
