Man, 18, wounded in city shooting

An 18-year-old man was shot Friday night in the 500 block of Locust Street and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, police said. The man was in stable condition with gunshot wounds Saturday, police said.

Police, who did not identify the victim, responded to a 911 report of shots fired. Officers received a second 911 report of a person struck by gunfire as they got to the scene at 11:49 p.m.

Police said people were in the area when they arrived. Multiple shell casings and other evidence were recovered. Witnesses were interviewed and police said the shooting does not appear to have been random.

City police Detective Kurt Miller is leading the investigation. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 735-1780. Information can be given anonymously.

ASSAULT/CHILD ENDANGERMENT

DENVER: Jennelle Reynolds, 23, of the 700 block of North Seventh Street, Denver, is facing multiple charges after an incident Thursday at Main and Sixth streets. Reynolds allegedly stopped her vehicle and locked herself in the car with a 2-year-old child, according to East Cocalico Township police.

Officers used tools to open a car door, at which time Reynolds allegedly scratched an officer and kicked another officer three times when they tried to remove her from the vehicle, police said.

Upon her release from Ephrata Community Hospital, where she was taken after the incident, police said Reynolds will be charged with endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and two counts of aggravated assault against a police officer.

BURGLARY

MANHEIM TWP.: Police are searching for two men who burglarized a home early Saturday in the 700 block of Billview Drive. The men, whom neighbors saw carrying a television from the home at about 6:30 a.m., dropped the TV when they realized they were being watched and fled in a tan Chevrolet Malibu that was parked in front of the house, police said. A stereo was taken, police said. The men gained access to the home through a garage window while the residents were asleep. The men are described as a white male and a black male in their 20s. DUI

LANCASTER: Estafan Roman-Irizarry, no age or address listed, was stopped at 11:20 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of Beaver Street and arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants, state police said.

THREATS

MANHEIM: Harry J. Cahill, 35, of Manheim, was charged Saturday with making terroristic threats after state police said he called a woman repeatedly between Thursday and Saturday and threatened to kill her.

THEFTS

BRECKNOCK TWP.: Police said three people broke into the Sunoco gas station, 1155 Reading Road, Thursday. After shattering the glass front door with a rock, they entered the store and stole multiple items, police said.

NEW HOLLAND:
Officers Dan Achenbach and Wendell Metzler responded to an alarm at 4:53 a.m. Thursday at the Wine and Spirits Store, 681 W. Main St., and discovered a burglary in progress. The officers pursued a man carrying bottles, but lost him, police said.

Police discovered that the window to the business had been broken to gain access and also found broken bottles, apparently dropped during the chase through the parking lot. The burglar was described as a tall, thin black man wearing a white T shirt and black pants. He was last seen running west on West Main Street.

LANCASTER TWP.: David Castro, 32, Conestoga Street, was stopped in the 900 block of Columbia Avenue at 2:13 p.m. Wednesday and arrested for theft and DUI, Manheim Township police said.

Police accused Castro of taking a gas grill from a residence in the 1000 block of Woods Avenue.

Officers responded to the report of a man walking behind houses and knocking on doors.

•A Dante Boulevard resident reported that a bike rack was stolen overnight Aug. 7 from a vehicle parked in front of his residence. Loss was $200.

ARREST

EPHRATA: Anthony M. Bisazza, 20, of the first block of Pin Oak Drive, Denver, was taken into custody Saturday in the 400 block of Main Street on an outstanding bench warrant for burglary. Police said he was turned over to the Sheriff's Department.

NEW HOLLAND:
Caleb J. Crouch, 24, of Lancaster, was arrested on a warrant at 8:20 p.m. Monday in the first blook of Brimmer Avenue and committed to Lancaster County Prison, police said.

Crouch was found to be in possession of two tablets of Lorazepram, a controlled substance, police said; drug arrest charges were to be filed.

SPEEDING

MANHEIM TWP.: Police pulled over 23 motorists for speeding in a 55-mph zone Tuesday at Routes 283 and 30. The highest speed was 85 mph.

NEW HOLLAND: Police cited seven motorists for speeding in a 45 mph zone in the 600 block of North Railroad Avenue between 7:15 and 8:15 a.m. Wednesday. The highest speed was 70 mph.

VANDALISM

NEW HOLLAND: It was reported Wednesday that a car parked in the 200 block of Fulton Street overnight Aug. 10 was hit with eggs. Minor damage was reported.

LANCASTER TWP.: A vehicle parked in the first block of Ranck Avenue was sprayed with white paint overnight Tuesday, Manheim Township police said.

COUNTERFEIT

WEST HEMPFIELD TWP.: The manager of the Mountville Turkey Hill store reported that a black woman in her 40s used three counterfeit $100 bills to purchase three $100 money orders at about 8:10 p.m. Thursday, police said.

SNAKEBITE

WEST HEMPFIELD TWP.: A young male was bitten by a copperhead snake shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday at the municipal park at Lake Grubb. Police said the victim was taken to a hospital but did not appear to be seriously injured.

VEHICLE ACCIDENT

SALISBURY TWP.: Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening at Churchtown and Meadville roads, state police said.

Michael K. Beiler, 18, of Kinzers, was traveling south on Churchtown Road when he struck a vehicle driven by Annamae King, 18, of Narvon, who was traveling on Meadville Road, police said. The two drivers, along with two juvenile passengers in the Beiler vehicle, were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Beiler will be charged with driving too fast and driving without a license, police said.
