Lancaster police arrested David Maurice Springer Jr., of the 100 block of Green Street, for a seventh offense of retail theft shortly before 6 p.m. at Weis Markets, 1204 Millersville Pike.
Springer allegedly tried to leave the Lancaster Township store with a $4.13 bag of shrimp and a $5.93 bag of crab legs concealed under his jacket, Officer Aaron Harnish said.
Police arrested Springer for felony retail theft. He has six prior convictions for retail theft dating back to August 1983, records showed.
On Thursday, two male cousins, ages 11 and 17, were caught trying to shoplift $109 worth of electronic items from the Wal-Mart store, 2034 Lincoln Highway East, East Lampeter Township police said.
Both boys are from Lancaster City. Police were told the 17-year-old acted as the lookout while the 11-year-old hid two compact-disc players and two sets of headphones in his clothing shortly before 10 p.m.
A loss prevention officer notified Officer Doug Jaquith, who arrested both boys for retail theft.
Manheim Township police have caster, with retail theft from an Oct. 5 incident at the Wal-Mart store, 2030 Fruitville Pike.
Store employees told Officer Thomas Miles that a man left the store on Oct. 5 without paying for a $647 television.
With the assistance of video surveillance, the man was identified as Ortman, who was charged on Thursday, police said.
In other police cases:
nLancaster police arrested Todd James Cook, 18, of 41 W. Farnum St., on charges of simple assault and terroristic threats after he allegedly punched a young man shortly before 12:30 a.m. today in the first block of North Water Street.
The victim did not know Cook. He was taking his 2-year-old son out of a car seat after arriving home from an out-of-town visit when Cook allegedly yelled to him, “Who the (obscenity) are you looking at?’’ Officer Michael Hagen said.
Cook took off his cap, approached the man, and struck him in the nose with his fist. After a family member called police, Cook allegedly threatened to further harm the victim, Hagen said.
The victim came to the police station to report what happened to him. Police went looking for Cook and found him a short time later in the area of North Water and West Chestnut streets.
nNew Holland police Officer Mark A. Willwerth charged Eduardo Cabezas Jr., 21, of New Holland, with fleeing-eluding police and eight summary offenses (traffic, vehicle and registration violations) from a Thursday morning pursuit.
Cabezas failed to stop his car on North Kinzer Avenue when police saw it had an expired inspection sticker, Willwerth said.
Cabezas started speeding, went through a stop sign at North Kinzer Avenue and Spruce Road, and drove to a parking lot at Spruce Road and Reidenbach Road, police said.
nNew Holland police also are investigating the theft of a $200 iPod from the purse of a 13-year-old girl at Garden Spot Middle School. Police said the item was stolen Nov. 10 when the girl left the purse unattended in a classroom.
