City police have arrested a theft suspect with nine prior retail theft convictions stretching back four decades.
Charles Lamont McNeil, 51, of 327 N. Mulberry St. #1, was charged with a retail theft July 30 at the CVS store at 32 W. Lemon St., police said.
McNeil took a box of trash bags and four pepperoni pizzas, together worth $28, and fled from the store on foot, police said.
A store manager pursued him and McNeil was last seen in the 400 block of North Market Street, police said. An officer later stopped McNeil in that block and the store manager positively identified him.
McNeil was charged before District Judge Bruce Roth and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $3,000 bail.
McNeil was previously convicted of nine retail thefts between 1977 and 2009, police said.
