Garden Spot High School girls' volleyball team recently received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2009-10 season.

It is the 16th consecutive year the team has won the award, presented to high school and college teams that maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale. Garden Spot had a team GPA of 3.90.

Team captain Claire Depew was the valedictorian of the 2010 graduating class. In 2009, Hannah Ertzgard, also a volleyball player, was named valedictorian.

The 2009-10 team members were Claire Depew, Alissa Arment, Taylor Boone, Katie Kloos, Laura Hess, Julia O'Brien, Steph Doherty, Anna Keens, Lauren Horst, Brittany Lantz, Abby Martin, Steph High, Hannah Williams and Christy Weaver.
