There was the time Matt Torchia put his twin brother's photo on his passport, and another time when the Torchia twins swapped roles, and shirts, for the day.
"Changing shirts, that's very important," Christopher said.
For the six sets of twins who will graduate from Penn Manor tonight, life is full of confusion and mischief.
When they cross the stage at commencement, names could get mixed up or diplomas handed to the wrong twin. But these teens are used to mixups.
"Who cares?" said Kevin McCart, who will receive his diploma alongside his brother, Patrick.
People don't often confuse the McCart twins. Patrick McCart, who is 5 feet 4 inches tall and might weigh 130 pounds soaking wet, is a swimmer. Kevin, a 5-foot-10-inch, 200-pound lineman, played football for the Comets.
Patrick said no one ever believes they're related. "We even have to get identification to prove it."
Brothers James and Jason Ploumis, on the other hand, are prototypical identical twins. Both check in around 6 feet and have blond hair and moustaches.
"The teachers (Jason) had last year still get us confused," James said.
Tammy and Monica Anderson are in the middle ground when it comes to sibling mixups. They both have long blond hair, but their facial structure varies slightly.
"The teachers don't even realize we're twins," Tammy said, but they occasionally get their names wrong.
The Torchia brothers, the shirt-switchers and passport-photo-swappers, are dead ringers for each other. Matt is spending six months studying overseas in Italy, and he will miss graduation.
"They're the only ones I get mixed up," Tammy Anderson said.
Once in middle school and once in elementary school, the Torchias swapped wardrobes and personalities for a day. Christopher said they pulled it off. Tammy still remembers it.
"They look exactly alike," she said.
Kayla and Alex Morrow, fraternal twins, are the quietest of the bunch. Alex said he's continually judged against his sister's accomplishments.
Kayla is the class valedictorian.
"I'm always compared with her," Alex said. "I'm the dumb one. Kayla's more academic. I'm more of the just-there person."
Kayla acknowledged her brother's comment with a smile and then went back to reading her book.
Twin sisters Heather and Christine Neff, who were visiting colleges at the time of the interview, also will graduate tonight.
Two sets of twins will stay together next year.
Kevin and Patrick McCart will study at the Mount Alto campus of Penn State University. They'll be roommates.
"Just for two years," said Patrick, who plans to major in forensic toxicology. Kevin said he wants to major in physical therapy.
Monica and Tammy Anderson will attend York Tech, where Monica will major in business management and Tammy will major in business and accounting. They'll be living together in an off-campus apartment.
"We're bonded together forever," Tammy said. Monica nodded.
