Sukhothai Restaurant opened last week at 398 Harrisburg Ave., completing a move from Mountville, where it opened in 2005.

The new spot in Champion Forge Center gives the Thai restaurant seating for about 100, making it slightly bigger than the former spot in the Village Shopping Center, 145 Oakdale Drive.

The menu, almost identical to the one in Mountville, features traditional dishes from Laos, the home country of Khamphong Chanthongthip, who started the restaurant and whose family runs it. It also features traditional Thai dishes, including soups and salads as well as noodle, seafood, fried rice and curry dishes.

In addition to the menu, much of the décor of the old restaurant has been imported to the new restaurant, including lily pads that form ceiling light fixtures and paintings of scenes from Laos. The restaurant has a BYOB policy.

CVS opens

Also in Elizabethtown, The Happy Hair Salon marked its opening early this month at 6 N. Market St. It offers haircuts as well as a variety of styling treatments.

Restaurant cutback

The Akron Restaurant, Bakery and French Toast Factory, 333 S. Seventh St., is no longer keeping regular hours, but is available for banquets and special events.

In April, the restaurant had reduced its hours to breakfast and lunch only Wednesday through Sunday, but it dropped all of its regular hours earlier this month.

It is owned by the Mountis family, which also owns Neptune Diner and Conestoga Restaurant. An owner did not return messages or come to the phone to talk about the change.
