Dan Betancourt, president and chief executive of Community First, will be in Reading this afternoon to meet with bank officials, business leaders and elected officials for the presentation.

Community First will use the capital to provide affordable loans to small businesses, affordable-housing developers and community-based facilities in low- and moderate-income communities to create growth opportunities for business owners and local residents.

“This capital will leverage growth opportunities for small businesses, developers and entrepreneurs who will help fuel greater prosperity in central Pennsylvania,” Betancourt said.

Since 1992, Community First has assisted more than 8,000 business start-ups with counseling, education, technical-skills training and funding. It has helped finalize more than 450 business loans worth more than $10 million. It has expanded its reach beyond Lancaster County, with five regional offices covering 13 counties.

“Bank of America’s leadership in this market will encourage others to invest in these growth opportunities,” Betancourt said.

Bank of America’s presentation will take place today at 2:30 p.m. at Ocean Blue Bar and Grill, 600 Penn St. in Reading.
