Zach Hosler closed out his high school volleyball career by being named to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Finest 40 Class AA team — the equivalent of the All-State team — for the second consecutive season.

The Manheim Central senior outside hitter led the Barons with 250 kills and added 35 aces.

Also named to the statewide Class AA team were Garden Spot's D.J. Mentzer, Lancaster Mennonite's Zach Smith and Hosler teammate Joe Dietrich.

The Lancaster-Lebanon League's lone pick for the PVCA Finest 40 Class AAA team was Hempfield junior Sean Snyder.

Mentzer led the Spartans into pool play at the PIAA Championships, the deepest run of any L-L League team this season. Mentzer, a senior middle blocker, finished with 404 kills and had 89 blocks.

Mentzer was also named to the PVCA AA All-Tournament team following the PIAA Championships.

Smith, a senior outside hitter, led the Blazers into the L-L League title match. He compiled 425 kills and picked up 286 digs.

Dietrich, the Barons' senior setter, quarterbacked the attack that helped the Barons win the Section Two title.

Hosler, Smith and Dietrich were also selected for the District Three Class AA First Team. Named to the District Three Second Team were Mentzer and Cocalico outside hitter Matt Carty. Class AA Third Teamers were Cocalico middle hitter Mike Lawver and Ephrata setter/outside hitter Daniel Witwer.

Snyder also earned District Three Class AAA All-Star First Team honors. Snyder's Hempfield teammate, junior outside hitter Mark Feiler, was named to the AAA Second Team as was Warwick senior opposite Jon Martin and Manheim Township outside hitter Will Powers. Hempfield junior middle hitter Dan Hostetter was named to the AAA Third Team.
