Down 18 points with four bouts to go, the Lancaster-Lebanon Wrestling All-Stars rallied to defeat the Berks stars, 31-28, Wednesday night at Elizabethtown's Thompson Gym.
Warwick's Antonio Giorgio triggered the comeback, pinning Conrad Weiser's Nate Luckenbill in 1:47 at 189 pounds.
Persistently staying with his double leg shot, Donegal's Sterling Goshea got the payoff on his fourth try, taking Tyler Weisman of Governor Mifflin to his back for a 6-1 overtime victory at 215.
McCaskey's Dominique Smith buried a half nelson to pin Muhlenberg's Jordan Sweitzer in 2:38 at heavyweight, setting the stage for E-town's Calvin Anderton, who cradled Daniel Boone's Eddie Lockowitz in 1:26 at 103 pounds for the victory.
Pulling double duty, Anderton kicked the evening off with a 4-3 win over Hamburg's Wayne Resh at 112. Garden Spot's Kyle Coblentz took advantage of a 6-point handicap awarded for Zach Terefenko's being overweight at 119 and stayed ahead of the Wilson star to the final horn for a 13-4 victory.
Berks got on the scoreboard with a fall from Brandywine Heights Tyler Herman at 125 and Derek Goodwin's decision at 130, but Solanco's Jordan Hastings hit two 5-point Petersen rolls and out-slicked Schuylkill Valley's Mike Giorgio, 17-10 at 135.
Giorgio's teammate, two-time PIAA Class AA champion Colin Shober, kicked off a five-bout run with a major decision victory over Cocalico's Tyler Fittery at 140 and the Berks stars added two one-point wins, a fall and a three-point decision. In the end, it was not enough.
