A Lancaster man who once described his homemade sex videos as "educational," was sentenced Monday to 4 to 8 years in state prison.
Jere A. Brandt Jr., 48, of 1389 Union St., was arrested last May by the state Attorney General's Child Predator Unit.
Brandt had pleaded guilty earlier to a long list of charges before Dauphin County Court Judge John Cherry.
Prosecutors said Brandt regularly sent live video of himself performing sex acts in front of his Web-camera, along with pictures of male pornography, to a person he thought was a 13-year-old girl.
Brandt described them as "educational material," prosecutors said.
But, as has been the case with hundreds of men arrested by the Child Predator Unit, the girl was in reality a special agent for Attorney General Tom Corbett's office.
Brandt began corresponding with the imaginary girl on an Internet chat room, according to the criminal complaint, sending her pictures and videos.
Last spring, the girl said she was coming to Harrisburg to visit a relative, and Brandt arranged to meet her, according to the affidavit.
But when Brandt arrived at the prearranged location in Dauphin County, he was placed under arrest.
Brandt was charged with two counts of unlawful contact with a minor (one related to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and another related to indecent assault), plus 12 counts of unlawful contact (related to obscene or sexual performances).
The Dauphin County Court judge also determined Brandt was a sexually violent predator, based on psychological evaluation.
As such, Brandt will have to register with the state police for the rest of his life and abide by other conditions of Megan's Law.
Investigators with Corbett's office warned parents that children's use of the Internet increases when they are at home or on holidays from school.
