Demolition of the former Quality Inn on Oregon Pike started this week, to make way for the Shoppes at Landis Valley.

The motel, built in 1959, will be replaced by a CVS pharmacy, a Susquehanna Bank branch and a Giant To Go convenience store, plus four more buildings of stores and offices.

A spokeswoman for the venture previously said the 52,000-square-foot project is set to open this fall.
