TO THE EDITORS:
I am writing this letter to thank our wonderful neighbors on the 500 block of Lancaster Avenue. On the morning of Feb. 11, my wife and I had an engagement and were only able to spend minimal time clearing the snow from our vehicles.
Lancaster Avenue is not a top priority when it comes to city snow removal and had not been plowed at all following the latest snowstorm. We returned early in the afternoon, fully planning on spending an hour or two digging out our vehicles.
As we came to the bottom of our street, we were pleasantly surprised to see the street being cleared (by shovels, not plows) and nearly all of the vehicles on the street completely cleared off and dug out.
Fifteen to 20 neighbors, all with shovels in hand, were still digging out the remaining buried vehicles.
I can't explain how much it means to us to have great neighbors! Thank you so much, 500 block of Lancaster Avenue.
It's nice to get by with a little help from your friends!
