Carly Leitzel to the rescue.

Manheim Central beat No. 6 seed Boiling Springs 43-41 in a riveting District 3 Triple-A first-round game Wednesday night, when the Barons' senior sniper beat the final buzzer with the game-winning shot for Manheim Central, the No. 10 seed.

The Barons advance to the quarterfinal round against No. 2 seed Trinity on Saturday at noon at Chambersburg High School.

Lancaster Catholic also advanced in the Triple-A bracket.

One other L-L League team advanced in first-round action Wednesday — Lebanon Catholic, the No. 2 seed in Single-A, drilled No. 15 seed Antietam 61-20 and the Beavers will take on No. 7 seed Camp Hill — a 51-10 winner over Harrisburg Christian — on Saturday at noon at Susquenita High School.

Two L-L League girls' teams were eliminated from the Triple-A bracket Wednesday:

Elco, the No. 15 seed, fell to Trinity 49-35.

And Northern Lebanon, the No. 21 seed, fell to No. 5 seed Shippensburg 61-45.

After five L-L League teams lost on the first night of District 3 action on Tuesday, Lancaster Catholic, Lebanon Catholic and Manheim Central advanced on Wednesday, joining Lancaster Mennonite, the No. 2 seed in Double-A, which received a first-round bye.
