TO THE EDITORS:

As a former health care worker, the issue of health care reform is very near and dear to me.

A new federal study shows that heath care spending rose to an estimated $2.5 trillion in 2009, or $8,047 per person. Many experts agree that the cost of health care will double by 2019.

The health care industry is losing paying customers at an alarming rate. Are we really going to wait until health care experiences a meltdown similar to the mortgage/financial crisis in 2008?
