No one was hurt in a 2-alarm fire at Manor Shopping Center on Friday that mostly was contained to a heating unit on the roof, a fire official said.

The Hair Express shop sustained smoke damage, Lancaster Township Assistant Fire Chief Steve Roy said. Total damage, including the heating unit, will likely be $5,000 to $10,000.

The fire struck about 9 a.m., and about 30 firefighters from several area departments brought it under control an hour later, he said.

Weis Markets and several other businesses along the eastern portion of the 1204 Millersville Pike shopping center were evacuated for a short time, Roy said.

UGI Utilities, which had been called to the center for a gas leak, reported the fire, he said.

The gas leak was likely caused by the heating unit, a UGI spokesman at the scene said.
