A Columbia man was sentenced in Lancaster County Court recently to 5 to 10 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a young girl.

Jeffrey C. Kurtz, 45, pleaded guilty before Judge David Ashworth to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors.

Prosecutors said throughout 2007, Kurtz repeatedly sexually assaulted a young girl in Columbia.

In addition to the prison sentence, Kurtz was placed on five years consecutive probation and ordered to register his address with state police for the rest of his life, along with other Megan's Law requirements.

Assistant District Attorney Randall Miller prosecuted the case and Cory Miller, an attorney with the public defender's office, represented Kurtz.
