Lancaster Newspapers Inc. announced plans Tuesday to move some of its editorial functions to a seven-day schedule.
Harold Miller, president and chief executive officer, said that by "sharing our work loads more efficiently the expense of publishing our daily and Sunday newspapers will be reduced."
Several Sunday News sections, news/copy desk duties and news reporting responsibilities will be taken over by Lancaster Newspapers' daily editorial staff, operating on a seven-day basis.
As a result, six Sunday News editorial positions are being eliminated.
"The most noticeable change," said Miller, "will be the publishing of the daily Lifestyle section on Sundays, edited by the daily Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era Lifestyle staff.
"Likewise, the daily editorial staff will also be responsible for the Sunday News Business section," he said.
The Sunday News will continue to be published under the direction of Editor Marvin I. Adams.
