'Santa' stolen on Christmas

An inflatable Santa decoration was taken Friday from a front yard in the first block of Leacock Road, Paradise Township, state police at Lancaster said.

The 8-foot-tall, lighted Santa disappeared about 11:37 p.m. and was valued at $35, police said.

•Ronald Joseph Brynarsky III, 20, of Ephrata, has been charged with 10 counts of theft, state police at Ephrata said. After reviewing surveillance tapes, police accused Brynarsky of playing $5 Candy Cane lottery tickets between 10:57-11:01 p.m. Nov. 19 and not paying for 10 of the tickets.

•Several power tools, hand tools and a pressure washer were taken from a detached garage in the 300 block of East Main Street in Ephrata on Wednesday, Ephrata police said.

•An iPod and cash were taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway at Henry Court between 7:00-7:30 p.m. Friday, Manheim Township police said. The items, which belonged to a Lancaster man, were valued at $270.

•Jose M. Colon-Espada, 23, Waverly Avenue, was arrested for retail theft at Wal-Mart, 2030 Fruitville Pike, at 5:39 p.m. Friday, Manheim Township police said.

Police said a Wal-Mart employee observed Colon-Espada leave without paying for a TV, a computer and a roll of gift wrap, total value $699. When the employee tried to detain Colon-Espada, police said, he ran to a car and drove out of the lot, leaving the merchandise behind. A description of the vehicle was broadcast to Manheim Township units and Officer Michael Naff observed the vehicle traveling on Chester Road a few minutes later.

Naff stopped the vehicle and Colon-Espada was taken into custody, police said. He was arraigned before District Justice Rodney Hartman for retail theft and driving under suspension and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.

•Manheim Township police Officer David Kantner has filed criminal complaints against Alexander J. Chapis, 21, and Dallie M. Davies, 29, of Hummingbird Drive, Lititz.

Investigators accuse Davies of stealing merchandise valued at $12 from the Giant store at 1605 Lititz Pike on Dec. 2 and then returning to the store with Chapis to get a cash refund.

The two, who also sought a refund at the Giant store on Fruitville Pike, were charged with criminal conspiracy and theft by deception, police said. Davies was charged as well with retail theft.

•Several items belonging to a Narvon woman were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the first block of Mountain Top Lane, Caernarvon Township, state police said. The vehicle was parked in front of her residence when the theft happened at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

CRASHES: Nathaniel R. Heagy, 19, Lancaster, was eastbound on Mount Joy Road, just north of Sun Hill Road, Rapho Township, at 10:39 a.m. Friday when his vehicle spun out of control and struck a utility pole on the north side of the road, state police at Ephrata said.

•Vehicles driven by Wayne F. Schubert, 42, Christiana, and Alex S. Petrow, 29, Paradise, collided at 11:59 a.m. Saturday at Route 372 and Valley Road, Bart Township, state police at Lancaster said.  Schubert was cited for a traffic violation, police said.

•Jeffrey L. Ginder, 28, Elizabethtown, was driving west on Cider Press Road, just east of North Colebrook Road in Rapho Township, when he fell asleep, drove off the road and struck a utility pole at 5:19 p.m. Wednesday, state police at Ephrata said. Ginder, who was uninjured, was charged with a traffic violation, police said.

HARASSMENT:
State police at Lancaster charged Raymond Adkins and Veronica Adkins, ages unknown, of the 3500 block of Lincoln Highway East, Paradise Township, with harassment after a domestic dispute at 10:30 p.m. Friday.

DUI:
Wayne D. Grow, 34, of Coatesville, was charged with driving while intoxicated last week, state police at Ephrata said. While westbound on Best Road in Caernarvon Township,  Grow drove through the stop sign at Route 10, struck a cattle gate and careened 200 feet onto private property before striking a second cattle gate and wire fence, police said. Grow's car traveled another 200 feet before stopping in a snow-covered field, according to police.

VANDALISM: David F. Petrofske Jr., 18, of the first block of West Church Road, Stevens, was cited with vandalism for punching and shattering a window at a county municipal building at 123 E. Main St. Wednesday morning after a meeting with his parole officer, Ephrata police said.

•Deep marks were scratched on the driver's door of a Jeep sport-utility vehicle parked in the 600 block of West Main Street in Ephrata overnight Tuesday, police said.

WARRANTS:
Earl Vincent Davis, 59,  whose last known address was Coatesville, was picked up Friday on a Lancaster County Sheriff's Department bench warrant, East Lampeter Township police said. Davis was found rummaging through a Goodwill drop-off station at 8:30 a.m., police said. The arrest location was not reported Saturday night.

•Christopher Shields, 37, was living at the Red Carpet Inn, 2884 Lincoln Highway East, when he was picked up on a New Holland Police Department bench warrant for theft by deception at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, East Lampeter Township police said.

ARRESTS:
Landis M. Ashford, 34, 1000 block of South Duke Street, was picked up in the 600 block of West Orange Street at 2:02 a.m. Saturday and cited with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, city police said.

•Rachel A. Woods, 43, of the 300 block of South Queen Street, was arrested at 11:38 p.m. Friday in the first block of West Chestnut Street and cited for public drunkenness, police said.

•Alvin D. Wallace, 42, Denver, was arrested for public drunkenness and defiant trespass at 1:09 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of North Prince Street, police said.
