Franklin & Marshall's John Troxell is one of five finalists for the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award in Division III.

Fans can vote for the finalists at coachoftheyear.com between Dec. 15-29.

The fan voting is 20 percent of the coach's score. Selections committees of College Football Hall of Fame players and coaches and of the national college football media also vote for the nominees. The Hall of Fame votes count 55 percent and the media count 25 percent.

The other Division III finalists are Steve Briggs, Susquehanna University; Greg Debeljak, Case Western Reserve; John Gagliardi, Saint John's University; and Steve Staker, Coe College.

Penn State's Joe Paterno is one of the five Division I-A finalists.

The award goes to coaches who demonstrate sportsmanship, integrity and responsibility on and off the field.

Liberty Mutual will award $50,000 to the winning coach's charity of choice. Troxell has chosen Lauren's First and Goal Foundation, which battles pediatric tumors. Troxell serves on the foundation's board.

A $20,000 grant would also be made to F&M's alumni association for student scholarships and activities.

F&M players are involved off the field in programs such as Teamwork, which helps to clean up James Street Improvment District, and Fulton Fridays, in which players read to Fulton Elementary School students.

Winners will be announced Jan. 6 in Los Angeles, the day before the BCS Championship Game.

This season, Troxell led F&M to a 9-2 record and a win in the ECAC South Atlantic Bowl.
