Charges have been filed against a school bus driver who allegedly ran a red light Nov. 30 and crashed his bus with 11 children aboard.
Nevin G. Wenger was charged Friday by Mount Joy Borough police with failing to obey a traffic signal.
According to police, Wenger was driving the busload of students — most of whom were headed to Lancaster Mennonite's Kraybill campus in Mount Joy — at 7:30 a.m., when he ran a red light at West Main Street and Orchard Road.
The bus then collided with a trash truck, police said.
A 6-year-old boy on the bus was taken to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, borough police said.
That boy attends St. Peter's Catholic School in Elizabethtown.
No one else was injured, police said.
