Area police nab four on drug charges

Three Lancaster men and a Reading man face drug charges in recent incidents.

State police on Monday afternoon stopped Jovauhn Tracey Fryer, 31, of Lancaster, for speeding along Route 222 at East Mohler Church Road in Ephrata Township, police said.

A search of the vehicle turned up 2½ pounds of marijuana, police said. Fryer was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

City police responded to a call Sunday afternoon about a man hunched over in a vehicle in the 400 block of East Frederick Street, police said.

They found Michael Aaron Belboda, 21, of 417 E. Frederick St., police said. He refused to cooperate with police and medics trying determine his condition.

Belboda started fighting and after numerous warnings, tried to run, police said. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Police found 10 packets of heroin in his pants pocket and an Adderall tablet, police said. Adderall is a prescription medicine that contains amphetamine.

Belboda was charged with possession of heroin, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, police said. He was sent to Lancaster County Prison on a probation detainer.

Manor Township police early Thursday morning arrested Thomas Vincent Smaldone, 25, of 417 E. Frederick St., Apt. 31, for suspected drunken driving after a traffic stop in the 3400 block of Columbia Avenue. Police found marijuana in his pocket and charged him with possession of marijuana, police said.

State police in Ephrata charged Jordan Larry Carter, 19, of Reading, with possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop along Route 222, near Mohler Church Road, Sunday.
