An Elizabethtown couple has been charged with insurance fraud, police reported today.

William B. Warren III, 29, and Tabitha Warren, 26, both of the 200 block of South Market Street, told police their vehicle was stolen from a street near their home overnight Aug. 10, Elizabethtown police said. The couple collected $2,800 from an insurance company after the claim.

An investigation determined the car had broken down and was undrivable, but wasn't stolen, police said.

The Warrens each face a felony charge of insurance fraud with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison, police said. Mr. Warren also was charged with unsworn falsification to authorities, and false reports.
