A thief or thieves struck 15 vehicles in East Petersburg and Manheim Township overnight Saturday.

Police in Manheim Township, the city and Ephrata also reported other recent thefts, burglaries and a robbery.

In the latest series of thefts from vehicles, about $4,000 worth of items including cash, cameras, tools, GPS units, a laptop computer, DVD player and a garage door opener were taken, Manheim Township police said.

Some of the targeted vehicles were unlocked, police said. Some had windows smashed.

Ten vehicles in East Petersburg were struck in the 1900 blocks of New and Linden streets, the 6400 block of Orange Street, and the 2700 and 2800 blocks of Graystone Road, police said.

In Manheim Township, five vehicles were broken into at the Eden Resort at 222 Eden Road, the Rodeway Inn at 30 Keller Ave., and in the 300 block of Carter-Moir Drive.

Police also reported the following:

On Monday, Manheim Township police responded to a 1:38 a.m. report of glass breaking at the Occupational Development Center, 640 Martha Ave., police said. A male had been seen running from the property.

Forced entry was made to the building, but it did not appear anything was taken, police said. Damage is about $275.

Someone stole seven wheels and tires off an empty tank trailer over the weekend, Ephrata police reported.

The trailer at the Route 222 Travel Plaza, 891 E. Main St., Ephrata, was left on one tire and cinder blocks, police said. Police ask that anyone with information call them at 738-9200.

A male pushed a cart with two stolen televisions in it out the door of Walmart, 2030 Fruitville Pike, on Saturday, Manheim Township police said. When the cart overturned in the parking lot, he picked up one of the TVs and fled toward Fruitville Pike, where a silver Mustang picked him up. The merchandise totaled $400.

Township police ask that anyone with information about the incident call the department's Anonymous Crime Tip Line at 569-2816.

Jewelry and change totaling more than $7,000 in value were stolen from a home in the 300 block of Arbor Road during the day on Friday, Manheim Township police said.

A robber displayed a 3- to 4-inch knife with a black and silver handle, and demanded money from a female clerk at the Duke Street parking garage booth Wednesday at about 10 p.m., city police said. She told him she didn't have any money, so he entered the booth and tried to open the register. He could not open it, and then he fled.

The robber was last seen walking toward Chestnut Street, police said. He is described as a black man, 40 to 50 years old, 5-foot-6 inches tall, with a husky build and a scruffy beard.

A man who went door to door in Ephrata selling Sunbrite cleaner Nov. 4 was a scam artist, police said. He demonstrated the product and then offered it for sale to residents.

One homeowner in the first block of North State Street made a personal check out to the man rather than to Sunbrite, the product's manufacturer, police said. Sunbrite was contacted, and the company said it did not have a salesman in the area. Ephrata police ask anyone with information about the scam to call them at 738-9200.
