Stolen Squarepants: SpongeBob chair swiped in Manheim Township

Manheim Township police are investigating the thefts of car wheels and tires, stereo equipment, a purse, a wallet, cash, an iPhone and even a SpongeBob Squarepants chair.

Someone on Saturday got out of a car while it was stopped in the 1200 block of Manheim Pike and took a $99 foam SpongeBob rocking chair that was on display in front of the Furniture & Mattress Discounters store, police said.

Diana Nathan, 18, of Penn Avenue in Ephrata, told police that she put her purse on top of her vehicle in the 700 block of Brentwood Drive a little after 9:30 Friday night and went for a short walk. Police said that when she returned, her purse was gone. Loss is about $460.

Jesse Enck, 25, of Spruce Street, Lititz, reported that someone took his wallet after he placed it on the bar at American Bar & Grill, 1081 N. Plum St., Friday night. Video surveillance captured the theft. The investigation continues. Loss is about $800.

Patrick Shaknitz, 18, of Amesbury Road, told police that someone took cash and an iPhone from his gym bag in a locker room at Manheim Township High School on Friday afternoon. Loss is about $595.

A man on Friday took $541 worth of stereo equipment from Walmart, 2030 Fruitville Pike, and fled in a Ford F-150 truck, police reported. A vehicle registration plate was obtained.

At 12:30 a.m. Friday, Vanessa Fontanez of Vine Street met a man in an alley near the 900 block of North Prince Street to sell him four wheels and tires for $900, police said.

The man loaded up the items, but then fled without paying, police said. The suspect, in his 20s, was driving a blue/gray Nissan Maxima.
