A Lancaster man wanted for the alleged assault of his girlfriend Sunday has turned himself in to police.

Shawn M. Jones, 20, of East Lemon Street, arrived at the Manheim Township police station about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release.

He was arraigned before District Judge David Miller and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $40,000 bail.

Jones is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats.

Police allege that Jones drove his 22-year-old girlfriend to the dead end of North Lime Street Sunday afternoon and they argued.

He punched her in the face several times, threatened her with a loaded gun and then struck her in the head with the weapon, police said.

Jones then drove the couple from the area, heading south on North Duke Street.

As they passed Lancaster General Hospital, police said the woman jumped from the moving vehicle and ran into the hospital for help.

The victim, who has not been identified by police, was hospitalized for injuries. Police did not have an update on her condition Wednesday.
