A man arrested for a crime he did not commit was sentenced to county prison after he pleaded guilty to another robbery.

Jose Antonio Santiago, 39, of Lancaster, was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in prison, plus three years consecutive probation, for robbery and conspiracy.

Defense attorney Mark Walmer told Judge Jeffery Wright that Santiago was picked up by police and charged with a 2004 robbery.

Santiago convinced police that he did not commit that robbery but confessed to committing an unsolved robbery at an East Lampeter Township convenience store.

"I regret what I've done," Santiago told the judge. "I was involved in using drugs, but I'm done with that. I no longer use drugs."
